We exist to make a positive impact
For too long the Libertarian Party has been a social club for intellectual misfits. We're not saying there is something wrong with intellectual misfits (since some of us are), what we are saying is that we need to start applying our intellectual powers to real life problems with society and our government relationships.
We believe that focusing on the application and promotion of our 3 main principles will bring us electoral success:
Principle 1: We own ourselves. The concept of self-ownership grants inherent natural rights regardless of race, religion, and social class. We should all be have the ability to earn an income, grow food, make/sell a product, build a home, create for ourselves without first having to ask and pay for permission from an elected or appointed authority figure.
Principle 2: Our neighbors and the government should abide by the simple concept of non-initiation of force and non-aggression. We all take a pledge when we join the Libertarian Party that we will not initiate force against somebody else. This is a pretty simple principle that everybody should endorse. It's a principle that should be the foundation of a civilized society. That we respect other people's life, we respect other people's property, thou shalt not steal and thou shalt not murder. It's that simple, and most everybody agrees to that. If most people agrees to this, then what makes the Libertarian Party different from the Republicans or Democrats? We believe that it is such an important moral and ethical principle that if we can't take somebody else's property, and that we can't hurt anybody, or we can't intimidate anybody or threaten to use force; we don't think the government can either.
Principle 3: Voluntaryism in action. Voluntaryism is the doctrine that relations among people should be by mutual consent, or not at all. It represents a means, an end, and an insight. Voluntaryism does not argue for the specific form that voluntary arrangements will take; only that force be abandoned so that individuals in society may flourish. As it is the means which determine the end, the goal of an all voluntary society must be sought voluntarily. People cannot be coerced into freedom. Hence, the use of the free market, education, persuasion, and non-violent resistance as the primary ways to change people's ideas about the State. The voluntaryist insight, that all tyranny and government are grounded upon popular acceptance, explains why voluntary means are sufficient to attain that end.
